The Senior Business Data Analyst supports internal business partners within the analytics and data engineering functional groups, as well as interacts with organizational leadership and primary stakeholders, acting as a liaison between functional groups, providing expertise and solutioning, where appropriate, to solve complex data challenges across the organization.   The Senior  Business Data Analyst has demonstrated experience related to data modeling, ETL data workflows, SQL and SQL-like query languages, Business Intelligence (BI) platforms (Infor/Birst, MicroStrategy, Sisense, Yellowfin) and working knowledge related to HRM/HRIS, ATS, ERP, CRM platforms.  The Senior  Business Data Analyst helps to establish and maintain best practices related to data governance, data standardization, data segmentation and data security as well as solutioning and designing innovative strategies and solutions to manage, maintain, and constantly move forward Cielo’s data strategy.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Function as a business intelligence expert and data engineering resource, providing unique solutioning for complex data challenges not able to be solved by a Reporting Analyst.
• Function as a data/technical expert and business process resource to the data engineering and data architect roles, providing business process expertise, and providing data and business requirements that will satisfy the report/data audience, while documented with specific detail that satisfies the requirement needs of the data engineering group.
• Provide functional expertise and best practices related to business intelligence, dashboard and report design and usability, data engineering, data pipeline development and optimization, data warehousing (Snowflake), query development leveraging SQL and SQL-like query languages, use of API supporting data consumption (SOAP and REST API).
• Resourceful and curious when approaching data challenges, always preserving core data principles, while partnering to understand the totality of each challenge and identify, where possible, the root cause.  Develop solutions that solve each challenge, leveraging the aligned analyst, engineer and/or client service group, as stakeholders for the targeted solution.
• Ability to intimately listen to stakeholder needs and use cases, identify, and understand the underlying data or change requested, investigate, and determine compliance with established data best practices, document and communicate back to stakeholder to ensure alignment. Document technical requirements and develop and prepare efforts to complete a project sprint working towards completion.
• Investigate opportunities for automation of routine data tasks and understand and communicate requirements to enable automation and develop use-cases to document impact.
• Document data requirements and maintain appropriate change logs aligned to changes completed to existing data models.  Hold peers and colleagues accountable to providing detailed documentation via incident management and documentation tools like Atlassian Jira.
• Identify, learn, and become an expert related to new technologies and technical solutions.  Be willing to commit time to learning the skills needed to be successful within any future technology initiatives.
• Provide guidance and expertise related to the continued design, development, and enablement of Cielo’s core data strategy and provide project support within the connected project initiatives, as required.
• Be a champion for data and technology.  Demonstrate excitement for data and technology initiatives and be open to sharing your expertise, both formally via training and other mechanisms in addition to indirectly by way of daily communication within larger team and/or group meetings.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Senior Manager, Analytics.

Position Requirements

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Bachelor’s degree required.  

Experience:

• Minimum 3+ years in a data focused role, specifically as a business partner or analyst, in either a business, reporting, or data engineering workgroup.
• • 4+ yrs experience SQL and building data pipelines
  • 6+ yrs data analysis, reporting and building dashboards based on customer requirements
• Proven experience in project management and data solution development, identifying unique solutions to complex data challenges.
• Proven experience providing deep-level analysis of both small, large, and extra large (1M+ records) data record sets.
• Proven track record assisting organizations and/or workgroups, helping to create and align to data best practices and data best practice strategies.
• Proven ability to self-manage daily calendar and overall workload, ensuring that milestones and due dates for projects and deliverables are met consistently and with high-quality results.
• Demonstrate strong written communication skills that may be leveraged via email and/or instance messaging applications, formal documentation within standard operating procedures/best practices documentation, and standard technical and/or requirements documentation.
• Experience in a human resources or talent acquisition/talent recruitment focused workgroup or organization is preferred but not required.

Functional/Technical Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

• Proven knowledge and expertise related to business intelligence (BI) platforms, specifically Infor/Birst or related BI technology.
• Expertise related to core Google stack
• Build and amend data pipelines to power views and dashboards
• Learn and use Google proprietary data warehouse and visualization
• Provide ad hoc reporting daily
• Build, deliver, update Weekly Reporting Review dashboards/reports
• Build, deliver, update Monthly Business Review dashboards/reports
• Attend Monthly Business Reviews to be SME of data and gather changing requirements for the client
• Strong experience in a SQL or SQL-like query environment (experience with PostgreSQL strongly preferred)
• Strong experience configuring/administration within a large ERP, HRM, CRM cloud-based environment (Oracle, Workday, SAP, Infor)
• Functional understanding of data modeling, ETL and ELT, and data workflow automation leveraging tools such as Apache Airflow.
• Functional experience with project management/incident management tools, specifically Atlassian Jira.
• Experience with cloud platforms and related data (Oracle NetSuite, Salesforce, and Ceridian Dayforce) preferred.
